Music Initiation

Tempo Music Academy has an excellent ‘initiation’ programme, where children of all ages can be introduced to a diverse range of musical experiences allowing them to enjoy music before beginning more formal tuition on an instrument of choice. The programme is diversified so that all ages of student can be accommodated.

Choir

Aimed at adults from the age of 16+, this group is primarily to allow people to come together to enjoy singing for pleasure. We will be singing a range of types of music from modern pop music to musical ballads, the Beatles to traditional folk songs. This group will experience the joy and relaxation that singing in a group can bring to busy everyday life.

Ukulele

The ukulele is an excellent beginner stringed instrument for smaller learners because it is light and easy to handle. It is however an interesting and stimulating instrument to learn in its own right and can be academically and musically challenging for students of all ages.

Piano

Piano skills can be learned quickly if the student has the correct version of different methods and procedures are followed with regular practice. In order to play well, a student will be required to play specific skills pieces as well as learning well known tunes and melodies.

Guitar

There are different methods used for the different types of guitar taught, however there are also some similarities.

Singing

Singing lessons can be followed at any age and will be adapted to the age and skills of the student. Singing lessons will focus on developing skills to promote and improve on tone and projection as well as developing a repertoire to share with others. Each lesson will include elements of developing good breath support, developing vocal sound and diction for singing, as well as harmony and performance work. The Rockschool curriculum will be used.

Drums

Drum lessons are taught using a variety of different techniques to introduce the different skills to begin or enhance previous learning. During the drum lessons, there will be a range of different foci including stick handling, posture, single and double stroke roll, basic rhythm patterns and paradiddle combinations. Various styles will be taught such as blues, rock, funk and jazz. The curriculum used is Rockschool.

Violin

As the violin is a beautiful stringed instrument it is perfect for musicians of all ages to learn. The lessons will be adapted to the age and skills of the learner but will include short warm up exercises and study pieces to help you improve your skills as well as scales and music fundamentals.
